BYU Industrial Design program sponsored a regional design symposium on March 22 and 23 that was a great success. Professional and student designers came together for lectures, discussions and workshops. Keynote speakers included; Paul Backett Industrial Design Director at Ziba Design in Portland Oregon and Brian Matt founder and CEO of Altitude, Inc. in Boston, Mass. Workshops were conducted by Scott Richards of Motorola in Plantation, Florida and Stuart Morgan Director of Industrial Design at Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. Cincinnati, Ohio. A panel discussion highlighted three distinguished industrial design alumni, Dan Snyder, Fuseproject, Joe Morin, Altitude, and Dayne Tanner, Pip Tompkin, they shared their views on school, business and life as a designer. Ali Carlile hosted a social for women in industrial design. A highlight of the symposium was the students portfolio presentations and critique by design professionals.
